The Galaxy S21 FE, which was announced last week, has already started getting its first software update. Since Samsung hasn't started shipping the device in most markets yet, users will likely see this new update as soon as they unbox their new Galaxy S21 FE.
The latest software update for the Galaxy S21 FE comes with firmware version G990EXXU1BUL5. The update is currently available in Thailand, but it should roll out in more markets soon. It brings the January 2022 security patch that fixes various dozens of security vulnerabilities. The update might also include bug fixes and stability improvements.
If you have already ordered the Galaxy S21 FE, you can check for the new update once the phone reaches you. You can check for the update manually by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. You can also download the latest firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually.
The Galaxy S21 FE comes with Android 12-based One UI 4.0 out of the box. Samsung has promised three Android OS updates for its high-end phones, which means that the Galaxy S21 FE should get updated up to Android 15 in the future. It will also get monthly security patches.
