Samsung started rolling out the July 2023 security update to its phones and tablets three weeks ago. The Galaxy S22 and the Galaxy S23 were the first phones to get it, and over the past few days, the update has reached several high-end and mid-range phones. Now, the July 2023 security update has started reaching the Galaxy S21 FE.
The latest software update for the Galaxy S21 FE bears firmware version G990EXXS7EWG1. It is rolling out in India and brings the July 2023 security patch that fixes over 90 security flaws found in the previous version of the software. It is a 256MB update and doesn't include any performance improvements or feature additions. It could be the last minor update before the release of the One UI 5.1.1 update.
If you have a Galaxy S21 FE in India, you can check for the new software update now. To do that, navigate to Settings » Software update and tap Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually. You would need a computer running a version of the Windows operating system and Samsung's Odin software tool.
Samsung launched the Galaxy S21 FE in early 2022 with Android 12 onboard. The affordable high-end phone received the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update late last year and the One UI 5.1 update earlier this year. It will get the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 update later this year, bringing major new features.
