Samsung has been swiftly rolling out the new security update for this month. After the high-end phones, the October 2023 security update has been rolling out for older mid-range and entry-level devices, and the Galaxy S21 FE is the latest phone to get the update in Europe.
Galaxy S21 FE is getting October 2023 security update in Europe
The latest software update for the Galaxy S21 FE (SM-G990B) comes with firmware version G990BXXS6EWJ1, and it is available in several European countries. The slightly newer version of the phone with model number SM-G990B2 is also getting the new security update with firmware version G990B2XXS5EWJ1. This update is also available across Europe.
According to Samsung's documentation, the October 2023 security patch fixes dozens of security flaws that were discovered in the previous version of the software running on Samsung phones and tablets. It doesn't bring any new features, performance improvements, or reliability enhancements.
If you live in Europe and have a Galaxy S21 FE, you can check for the new update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. Alternatively, if you don't want to wait for the update, you can use a PC running Windows OS and the Odin tool to flash the firmware file manually.
