Samsung has released the One UI 5.1 update to the Galaxy S21 FE in some Asian countries. Right now, the update is rolling out to the Exynos version of the Galaxy S21 FE (SM-G990E) in India, Thailand, and Turkey. The update also brings the February 2023 security patch that fixes over four dozen security vulnerabilities.
The One UI 5.1 update for the Galaxy S21 FE comes with firmware version G990EXXU4EWBE in India. In Thailand and Turkey, the update comes with firmware version G990EXXU4EWBD. If you live in any of these countries and have a Galaxy S21 FE, you can download and install the One UI 5.1 update on your phone by heading to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install.
You can also install the new update by downloading the new firmware file from our firmware database and flashing it manually.
Galaxy S21 FE One UI 5.1 update: New features
The One UI 5.1 update is based on Android 13. It brings an improved Camera app that lets you easily choose selfie color tones. You can also quickly switch to the Expert RAW app from the stock camera app. The built-in Gallery app has improved search, and you can search for people by just clicking on their faces. You can also create Shared Family Album to share images and videos with family members. You can also swipe up an image or video in the Gallery app to view its EXIF information, and you can even edit it.
The new update allows you to minimize or maximize an app by dragging its corners. When using the split-screen view, the app launcher shows you the most frequently used apps. Samsung DeX allows easier window size adjustment in the split-screen mode via its window divider. The Modes And Routines app now has more features and options, including the ability to change the home screen wallpaper, touch sensitivity, ringtone, and font style.
The Weather app now displays all the important information in the first view. It also has a new dynamic widget and displays hourly precipitation information. One UI 5.1 lets you view recently browsed webpages using the Samsung Internet app on a paired Windows PC using the Windows Phone Link app. Improved search offers easier search in history and bookmarks.
There are two new battery widgets that display battery charge information about the phone and its connected accessories. In the AR Emoji Camera, you can use up to three emojis on three faces simultaneously. The Suggestions widget displays playlists and music suggestions from Spotify. You can choose the folder where you want screenshots to be saved.
