Galaxy S21 FE is one step closer to getting the One UI 7 update

Months after the Galaxy S21 FE was benchmarked with Android 15 onboard, Samsung is making headway with the One UI 7 update for the second phone in Samsung's Galaxy S FE (Fan Edition) lineup.

Internal Android 15/One UI 7 test builds have been spotted on Samsung's servers (via Tarun Vats), indicating that the company is now investing more time in the development of the update.

Not that you should get too excited if you own a Galaxy S21 FE: the official One UI 7 update will not be released for any Galaxy smartphone before the Galaxy S25 series' launch in late January. It's also unclear how long Samsung will take after unveiling the Galaxy S25 to begin the One UI 7 rollout for existing devices.

Furthermore, the Galaxy S21 FE may or may not get the update at the same time as the Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra. Android 14 came to the FE model almost two weeks after the others, and Android 15 may follow the same trajectory.

Android 15 will be the last major Android OS upgrade for the Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra, but the S21 FE will get Android 16 as well, as it launched running a newer version of Android and One UI.

Check out the video below to find out what features and changes One UI 7 will bring to your Galaxy smartphone.

One UI 7.0 is a major refresh of the user interface that has powered Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets since 2018. One UI 7.0 could make it possible to lock individual apps

If you want to lock an app on One UI, your options are very limited. You move it to the Secure Folder, a safe enclave that's locked with your verification method of choice and keeps the data entirely separate from the rest of the device. However, if you don't want to use Secure Folder, you're […]
