Last week, Samsung started rolling out the February 2024 security update to its phones, and it was first released to the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and the Galaxy Z Fold 3. Now, the update is rolling out to the Galaxy S21 series, and it is currently available in Europe. More countries could get access to the update soon.
Galaxy S21 gets February 2024 security update in Europe
The new software update for the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra brings the February 2024 security patch. The update comes bearing firmware version G998BXXS9FXAH and is available in Switzerland. It fixes 72 security vulnerabilities that were discovered in Android and in Samsung's software for smartphones and tablets. Since this update is just a security patch, don't expect it to bring any new features or performance improvements. New features will likely come to the Galaxy S21 series with the One UI 6.1 update, and it will arrive before the end of the first half of this year.
If you have a Galaxy S21 series phone and live in Europe, you should now check for the new update on your device. To do that, you need to open the Settings app and navigate to Software update » Download and install. You can also try the alternative method of manually flashing the new firmware, and to do that, you can download the firmware file appropriate for your device from our firmware database.
Samsung launched the Galaxy S21 series in early 2021 with Android 11 onboard. The phone received the Android 12 update in late 2021 and the Android 13 update in late 2022. A few months ago, the phone started getting the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 update. The Galaxy S21 series will get the Android 15 update as its last major Android OS update, and it could arrive later this year.
