Yesterday, Samsung released the 2023's first security update to the Galaxy Note 10 series. Now, the company has started rolling out the January 2023 security update to the Galaxy S21 series in some European countries.
The latest software update for the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra bumps up the firmware version of the phones to G99xBXXS5DVL3. The update, which is rolling out in Switzerland, brings the January 2023 security patch. Samsung hasn't revealed which security vulnerabilities it fixes, but we expect to know more information within the next week or so. The update could also bring general bug fixes and device stability improvements.
If you are a Galaxy S21 series user in Europe, you can check for the update by heading to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file for your smartphone, matching the CSC of your phone, from our firmware database and flash it manually. Don't forget to back up your data before beginning the manual flashing process.
Samsung debuted the Galaxy S21 series in early 2021 with Android 11 onboard. The devices in the lineup got the Android 12-based One UI 4 update in late 2021 and the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update a couple of months ago. They will get two more Android OS updates in the future.
