Samsung has released the July 2023 security update to the Galaxy S21 series. The update is currently available in some Latin American countries, and we expect it to expand its availability to other regions in a matter of a few days. The Galaxy S22 and the Galaxy S23 have already started getting the new update.
The latest software update for the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra comes with firmware version G99xBXXS9EWF3. The update includes the July 2023 security patch that fixes over 90 security flaws found in the previous version of the software. The update doesn't bring any new features or performance improvements. It is currently available in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Mexico, Peru, and Uruguay.
Galaxy S21 July 2023 security update: How to install?
If you live in any of the countries mentioned above and have a Galaxy S21 series phone, you can download the new update right away. To install the new update, head over to Settings » Software update and tap Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually. You would need a Windows PC and the Odin tool for the manual procedure.
Samsung launched the Galaxy S21 series in early 2021 with Android 11 onboard. The phones in the lineup received the Android 12 update in late 2021 and the Android 13 update in late 2022. The South Korean firm is expected to release the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 update to the Galaxy S21 series later this year.
