Samsung has released a new update for the Galaxy S21 series, but it's not the one (no pun intended) you want. One UI 6.1.1 is not part of this update. It's just a regular security update that brings the September 2024 Android and One UI security patch to the Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra.
Are the Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra even eligible for One UI 6.1.1? Seeing as how they received just a single AI feature with the One UI 6.1 update, we don't think so. One UI 6.1.1 has many non-AI features and improvements as well, but Samsung will likely just bring those to the Galaxy S21 series with Android 15 and One UI 7.0.
For now, the only devices confirmed to be eligible for One UI 6.1.1 are the Galaxy S and Galaxy Z flagships launched in 2022 and later and the Galaxy Tab S8 and Galaxy Tab S9 tablet lineups. The update is currently rolling out to the Galaxy S24 series, S23 series, S23 FE, Fold 5, Flip 5, and Galaxy Tab S9 and is expected to hit flagship devices from 2022 in the coming weeks.
The September security update for the Galaxy S21 series is available in Europe. It should start making its way to other regions in the coming days. The update can be identified by the build number G99xBXXSCGXH7 and downloaded over the air from the phone's Settings » Software update menu. You can also find it in our firmware library.
