Samsung's quite busy with the One UI 4.0 roll out but that doesn't mean the company stops working on future firmware. It was only a matter of time before it emerged that the company had started developing the One UI 4.1 update.
This is going to be a relatively minor upgrade compared to One UI 4.0. Nevertheless, it should bring new features and improvements. Samsung fans will be delighted to know that the Galaxy S21 Ultra One UI 4.1 update has entered development.
One UI 4.1 for the Galaxy S21 Ultra is due later this year
The Galaxy S21 Ultra is one of the best Samsung phones that money can buy. It was the first to receive the Android 12 One UI 4.0 stable release from Samsung. That's because it's still the company's flagship Galaxy S series until the Galaxy S22 arrives next month.
Samsung has started testing out the One UI 4.1 update for the Galaxy S21 Ultra, bearing firmware version G998U1UEU5CVA4. It goes without saying that this is only a test build. The version number will be different when the stable build is released.
Exactly what One UI 4.1 might bring remains a mystery for now. Samsung has only just released One UI 4.0 to compatible devices. It made several cosmetic improvements in addition to introducing great new features.
It's also unclear when Samsung plans on launching One UI 4.1. Could the Galaxy S22 series ship with One UI 4.1 out of the box? That's entirely possible. So we can expect the Galaxy S21 series to get it after the new flagship hits the market. It could also be that this update is released in the second half of this year. We'll wait and see how this plays out.
