The August 2024 security update, an important one for all Android devices, is now available for the Galaxy S22 series. Like other flagship Samsung phones, the Galaxy S22's August update has made its debut in the USA, where it is rolling out to some carrier-locked variants.

You can identify the update by the build numbers S901USQS6EXG8, S906USQS6EXG8, and S908USQS6EXG8 for the Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra respectively.

To download it, open the Settings app on your phone, navigate to the Software update menu, and tap Download and install. You can also upgrade your phone by downloading the latest Galaxy S22 firmware from SamMobile and installing it using a Windows PC and a USB-C cable.

The latest Galaxy S22 update doesn't bring One UI 6.1.1, in case you're wondering. One UI 6.1.1 is expected to arrive on eligible devices sometime later this month. The One UI 7.0 beta program should start soon after, though it may be a while before the Galaxy S22 series gets it given its age.

So what's new with this update? It brings the August 2024 security patch to the 2022 flagship lineup. The August security patch fixes 50 security loopholes discovered in the Android OS and Samsung's One UI. One of those fixes is for a critical vulnerability that could allow attackers to easily bypass security mechanisms and gain access to devices without the user's consent.
