Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra have had access to the Android 14 update through Samsung's One UI 6 beta program for a couple of weeks now, but only in a handful of countries. Most Galaxy S22 owners around the globe are still using Android 13 and One UI 5.1, patiently waiting for the next big software upgrade to come to their handsets.
And Samsung has not forgotten those owners – the company has released an update for the Galaxy S22 series to strengthen its security. The US is the first market to get the October 2023 security patch for the Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra, with both unlocked and carrier-locked units included in the initial rollout.
The firmware version accompanying the update ends in CWI1. Security enhancements are the sole purpose of this update, which shouldn't surprise you as Samsung won't be releasing minor updates with new features when it's already working on bringing a lot of them through Android 14 and One UI 6.0 in the near future.
If you're rocking a Galaxy S22 series smartphone and reside in the US, you should be able to download the October update through the phone's Settings » Software update menu. You can also choose a different route and download the latest firmware for your device from our archive and install it using a Windows PC. If you're not in the US, don't worry, the same update should be hitting your phone in the next few days.
