While the One UI 6.1 update brought several Galaxy AI features to the Galaxy S22, it also brought some serious problems for some users. After installing a One UI 6.1-based update released in September 2022, several Galaxy S22 users claim that their phone is either stuttering or facing bootloop issues.

One UI 6.1-based update causing bootloop or stuttering issues on some Galaxy S22 units

Several Galaxy S22 series users have been complaining that their Galaxy S22 series phone is either lagging/stuttering or stuck in a bootloop. Some users say their Galaxy S22 series phone is randomly freezing and crashing. Some users' phones randomly restart several times a day.

They claim these issues started after installing a recent One UI 6.1-based update released in September 2024. Those complaints are spread across social media and Samsung's official forum. Multiple users claim that after they consulted with Samsung's authorized service center, they were told it was due to a faulty/fried motherboard.

Since the One UI 6.1 update was released to the Galaxy S22 more than a year after its release, most Galaxy S22 units facing these issues are out of warranty. So, users need to get their phones repaired and pay the bill out of pocket even though the cause of the problem is possibly the software update.

This isn't the first time the Galaxy S22 series is facing such issues. Similar issues surfaced when the One UI 6.1 update was released for the Galaxy S22 earlier this year. Due to those issues, Samsung had to pull the update. The company solved those issues and re-released the update a few weeks later.

If so many Galaxy S22 series users are facing bootloop or stuttering issues, and if the software update is the root cause of that issue, Samsung should issue a statement about it. It should also ask its authorized service centers worldwide to replace the motherboards of affected units for free.
