We don't really need any further proof that the Galaxy S22 Ultra, like the Galaxy S21 Ultra, will support Samsung's iconic S Pen stylus. But we're getting it anyway thanks to the FCC, which has certified the Galaxy S22 Ultra along with a new S Pen.
This S Pen carries model number EJ-PS908, and since we know the Galaxy S22 Ultra's model number is SM-S908x, there's no doubt here that this is an all-new S Pen designed specifically for Samsung's next Ultra flagship. Why does Samsung need a new S Pen for the Galaxy S22 Ultra? Probably because the S22 Ultra will be the first non-Note Galaxy flagship to come with the S Pen slot built-in, which means it has to have a stylus designed specifically for it.
And yes, in case you're wondering, this does mean that the Galaxy Note lineup has most likely met its demise. The Ultra model of the Galaxy S22 will take over the mantle of the Note, with Samsung going as far as changing its overall shape to match that of the company's Note flagships. However, Samsung probably won't be calling it the Galaxy S22 Note instead of Galaxy S22 Ultra, despite what some rumors might be saying.
The Galaxy S22 series is set to go official in the first half of February, with Samsung expected to hold yet another online-only event to make the announcement.
