Although the Galaxy S23 series turned out to be among the best camera smartphones of the year, it still needed some minor improvements. And Samsung delivered most of those improvements with a major camera update that was released in South Korea a couple of days ago, and it also included the April 2023 security patch.

This new update could be released in other countries within the next few days, especially looking at Samsung's track record over the past two years.

Galaxy S23 gets April 2023 security patch as part of new camera improvement update

The Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra are getting a new software update with firmware version S91xNKSU1AWC8 in South Korea. It brings various camera performance and behavior improvements to smartphones. On top of that, the update also includes the April 2023 security patch. Samsung hasn't revealed which bugs it is fixing with the April 2023 patch, but we expect it to fix dozens of security flaws.

If you have a Galaxy S23 series device and if you live in South Korea, you can download the newest update by heading over to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our database once it is updated with the newest firmware. Once you download the appropriate firmware file, you can flash it manually using the popular Odin tool.

The Galaxy S23 was launched in February 2023 with Android 13-based One UI 5.1 software onboard. It will get monthly security updates for at least three years, and they will keep coming for up to five years from the date of the phone's release. Samsung has also promised to release four major Android OS updates to the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Samsung also has the Galaxy S23 Fan Edition in the works, although its market release will not happen until the fourth quarter of this year.
