Samsung has just released One UI 6.1, the same version of One UI that the Galaxy S24 series offers, to many high-end smartphones and tablets. The Galaxy S23 series devices, as you might imagine, are also on the list. However, there's a catch. One UI 6.1 doesn’t offer one feature on the Galaxy S23 lineup of smartphones that it does on the Galaxy S24 series devices: Photo Ambient Wallpaper.

You can get an in-depth look at Photo Ambient Wallpaper in our dedicated article about the feature but to summarize, it offers various animations on the lock screen and home screen based on the weather and time. For example, if it snowing outside, the feature will show snow in the foreground of the wallpaper. This is one of the minute but coolest features of One UI 6.1. Unfortunately, you can’t get it on your Galaxy S23, or on any device to which Samsung released One UI 6.1 today.

On the brighter side, One UI 6.1 for Galaxy S23 does offer the Generative wallpaper feature from the Galaxy S24. As the name suggests, it can generate custom wallpapers, based on the combination of pre-defined keywords a user selects. You can access this feature by long-pressing the home screen and navigating to Wallpaper and style » Change wallpapers » Creative » Generative. One UI 6.1 offers many other new and useful features, and you can check them out in our video below.
