Samsung has released a new software update to the Galaxy S23 series. The new update brings the May 2023 security update to the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra. It is a small update and is rolling out in Europe as of now. However, the update could be released in other countries soon.
The latest software update for the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra comes with firmware version S91xBXXS1AWD1. The update is currently available in Europe, but we expect it to quickly expand to markets outside of Europe. It brings the May 2023 security patch that fixes over 70 security flaws, as documented by Samsung earlier today.
If you have a Galaxy S23 series smartphone and if you live in Europe, you can now check for the May 2023 security update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our firmware database once it becomes available.
It was rumored that an update released in May 2023 would improve the low-light camera performance of the Galaxy S23 series. However, this update has a download size of just 350MB, so we are not sure whether this is the same update that was rumored a few weeks ago. Maybe Samsung will release another update later this month to improve camera performance.
