The iPhone 15 just came out and even as you find many lists online about the reasons why Apple fans should pick up this device, there are also lists about why they shouldn't. A lot of the company's fans have been asking for the return of the Touch ID fingerprint sensor but their requests remain unanswered.
Apple wants them to use Face ID, the facial recognition-based access control system, instead. It's good but can still not work as well as it should in some circumstances. A proper fingerprint sensor can fix that. Samsung realizes that which is why it continues to offer one, and the Galaxy S23 just nails that implementation.
Samsung lets you make the choice, Apple makes the choice for you
Apple refuses to incorporate a physical Touch ID fingerprint sensor in the power button of its iPhones. Perhaps what irks fans of the iPhone the most is that there's likely no technological limitation here, since the 5th Gen iPad Air has a Touch ID sensor in the power button. So Apple could do it on the iPhone if it wanted to, but in classic Apple fashion, it doesn't.
On the other hand, customers who buy the Galaxy S23, any of the three models, get to use an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor that's much faster than previous iterations. It takes what feel like miliseconds for the sensor to pick up your fingerprint and unlock the device. You're free to use other unlock methods, including face recognition. Samsung gives you all of the options and lets you choose instead of making the choice for you.
You'll find countless iPhone owners complaining that the Face ID feature still doesn't work well in some situations, such as when they're wearing a hat, a face covering, sunglasses, etc. That remains a challenge for facial recognition-based device access solutions. It would be far easier if Apple offered both options, but that's not something it wants to do right now.
That's just one of the reasons why people who look to switch from the iPhone often find Samsung as the best alternative, and right now, there's none better for the iPhone than the Galaxy S23 series.
