To nobody's surprise, Samsung's new Galaxy S24 flagship phones debuted running a new version of One UI. For the time being, the One UI 6.1 update remains exclusive to the Galaxy S24 trio, but it should soon roll out for older Samsung flagship phones.
One rumor (via @BennettBuhner) states that the deadline for the Galaxy S23 series getting the One UI 6.1 update draws near. The source says One UI 6.1 will land on the Galaxy S23 series next month.
More Galaxy phones getting AI features
There's never a guarantee that every new software feature in the latest One UI version will be added retroactively to older Galaxy phones via firmware updates. But for what it's worth, the recent rumor states that Galaxy AI is included in the One UI 6.1 update for the S23 series. Here's what we could get with One UI 6.1 for the Galaxy S23 series:
- Improved UI animations
- Many new Galaxy AI features
- New lock screen customization features
- Various bug fixes and stability improvements
Whether or not this means the Galaxy S23 series will receive features like full-screen Always On Display via the One UI 6.1 update is unclear. But at the least, it might get the latest redesigned lock screen widgets.
As for Galaxy AI, time will tell if the entire AI suite from the Galaxy S24 will land on the Galaxy S23 next month or if only select AI-powered features will be included with the upcoming One UI 6.1 update.
