A few weeks ago, Samsung released the stable Android 14 update to the Galaxy S23 series. However, the update was limited to the global models of the devices in some countries. Now, the update is out for the carrier-locked models of devices in the Galaxy S23 lineup in the US. The factory-unlocked models of the devices received the update in the US a few days ago.

Carrier-locked Galaxy S23 units get stable Android 14 update in the US on AT&T and Verizon networks

Samsung has released the stable Android 14-based One UI 6.0 update to the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra in the US. This update is for the carrier-locked models on AT&T and Verizon networks in the country, and it comes bearing firmware version S91xUSQU1BWK4. It includes the November 2023 security patch as well to fix 65 security flaws in the phones. Devices on T-Mobile's network received the update a few days ago.

This is a major update, clocking in over 3.1GB in download size, so it would be better if you download the update over a Wi-Fi network. To download the new update, open the Settings app on your Galaxy S23 series phone and navigate to Software update » Download and install. You should note that the update is usually released in a phased manner, so not everyone will get the update on the same day.

The stable Android 14 update is also available to the Galaxy S23 series in China, and it comes with firmware version S91x0ZCU2BWK7.

One UI 6.0 features and changes

One UI 6.0 is based on Android 14, and it brings dozens of new features and some design changes. Those changes include a completely revamped Quick Panel layout, a slightly tweaked notifications design with bigger icons, a new media player widget in the notifications area with a waveform animation, and new font styles and placement options for the lock screen clock widget.

The update also brings a simpler design for the camera app, bigger controls in the image editor, and a separate section for battery in the Settings app. You can sort notifications by time, drag and drop multiple files using a two-hand gesture, and see each app's window state in the multitasking menu. There are completely new emoji designs and widgets (Custom Camera and Weather Insights).

You can save clipped images as stickers in the Samsung Keyboard app, play videos in the background in the Samsung Internet web browser, and switch to Bixby Text Call anytime during a voice call. Samsung Pass now supports passkey and access quick app actions from the Finder screen. You can view all other changes and new features in our in-depth video above.
