The April 2023 security patch is now rolling out to more devices, but the Galaxy S23 Ultra gets to benefit the most from this new release. It's almost as if Samsung tailored the April security update specifically for the Galaxy S23 Ultra. Not only does the flagship get better security through this new update, but it also receives a bunch of camera improvements. And now, they're available in India.
The April 2023 update was first rolled out in Korea and Europe. Now, the Galaxy S23 Ultra in India is getting the April 2023 security patch and the many camera adjustments. The update weighs almost 1GB and carries firmware version S918BXXU1AWC8.
Galaxy S23 Ultra camera improvements galore
These camera additions and fixes are not mentioned in the changelog, however, Samsung already confirmed them when it rolled out the update in Korea. Now, these features are coming to Galaxy S23 Ultra users in India.
New features include an option to prioritize focus quality over speed in the Camera Assistant app, an improved Gallery app processing algorithm, better sharpness and reduced flicker when capturing ultrawide videos in low-light situations using Super Steady mode, and a fixed banding issue that appeared in the sky in mid-low ambient light when using 50MP or 200MP resolution modes.
Samsung also addressed a bug that would occur when Night mode was disabled, and fixed another problem that caused face recognition to not work after ending a video call in third-party apps. The camera's overall stability has also improved, and OIS should work better when moving subjects are in the frame.
You should be able to download the new April 2023 security update on your Galaxy S23 Ultra in India upon receiving the notification or by opening the Settings app on the phone, accessing “Software update,” and tapping “Download and install.”
