Even if the second Galaxy Unpacked event of the year happened mere days ago, it feels like the end of the year is drawing near fast. The increased intensity of Galaxy S24-related leaks and rumors over the past week only strengthens that feeling, and we're now adding another report to the growing pile as battery capacities for the Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra have emerged.
Fresh Dekra certificates spotted online (via Nashville Chatter) reveal some battery specifications for two of the upcoming non-foldable flagships, i.e., the Galaxy S24 Plus and Ultra variants. According to these papers, the Galaxy S24+ battery has a rated capacity of 4,755mAh, whereas the Galaxy S24 Ultra battery has a 4,855mAh rated capacity.

Galaxy S24+ to have a bigger battery?
These 4,755mAh and 4,855mAh rated capacities will translate into slightly bigger typical numbers. It's a common practice across the industry, and rated capacities are always smaller than typical ones.
But interestingly enough, of the two upcoming phones mentioned in these Dekra applications, the Galaxy S24+ might get a battery upgrade compared to its predecessor.
For more context, the ongoing Galaxy S23 Ultra has the same 4,855mAh rated battery capacity as the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Samsung gave the 2023 flagship a 5,000mAh typical rating, which could mean the company will do the same for the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
However, the Galaxy S23+ battery has a smaller rated battery capacity of 4,565mAh and a typical capacity of 4,700mAh. And considering that the Galaxy S24+ battery listing mentions 4,755mAh (rated), Samsung might advertise the upcoming device as having a ~4900mAh (typical) battery.
In essence, the takeaway is that the Galaxy S24+ might get a battery upgrade and offer higher autonomy on a single charge than the Galaxy S24+. That doesn't seem to be the case for the Ultra model, and whether the base S24 model will get a similar treatment as the Plus is unknown.
As a bonus, the Dekra battery certificates reveal model numbers EB-BS926ABY and EB-BS928ABY, which means that the Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra will carry model numbers SM-S926 and SM-S928, respectively. Samsung will likely announce its next flagship series in January-February 2024.
