Samsung has released a new software update for the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra, and it's going to anger a lot of fans because the update doesn't bring One UI 7 (Android 15) to the year-old flagship lineup, only the latest security fixes.

With the Galaxy S25 having gone on sale worldwide a couple of days back, we had hoped that older devices would start receiving One UI 7 by mid-February. However, that now seems unlikely as Samsung typically holds off on releasing security updates when it's close to rolling out a major Android and One UI update.

Samsung is also said to be planning a fourth One UI 7 beta update for the Galaxy S24 series, so we wouldn't be surprised if the stable/final update gets pushed closer to the end of the month. As for those who own other Galaxy smartphones eligible for One UI 7, there's a good chance they will have to wait until March.

Coming back to the new Galaxy S24 update that's rolling out now: Korea appears to be the first market to get it. The update includes the February 2025 security patch and can be identified by the build number S928NKSS4AYA1.

It's worth nothing that the same build number accompanied the January security update for the Galaxy S24 series in countries like India, so the February update may have a different build number depending on the firmware that your device is currently running.

To check for updates, head into the phone's Settings » Software update menu and select Download and install. You can also download Galaxy S24 firmware from our firmware archive.
