Samsung has released the year's first security update for the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra. The Galaxy S24 series first received the January 2025 security patch with the latest One UI 7.0 beta (Android 15) update, but the patch is now available for devices running Android 14 and One UI 6.1/One UI 6.1.1.
The update is rolling out in Korea and to some carrier-locked variants in the USA. A wider rollout that brings the update to more countries and regions shouldn't be too far behind.
With a massive Android and One UI update on the way, it should come as no surprise that the Galaxy S24 series isn't getting any but security fixes with the January update. The January patch comes with fixes from Google for 29 vulnerabilities affecting the core Android operating system; it also fixes 22 vulnerabilities that only pose a security risk on Galaxy devices.
You can identify the January update for the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra with a build number ending in AXL1 or AXL2. To download it over the air, head into the phone's Settings » Software update menu and tap Download and install. You can also download Galaxy S24 firmware from the SamMobile database and install it on your phone through a USB connection on a Windows PC.
