Galaxy S24 could bring a much needed upgrade to improve performance

Samsung did almost everything right with the Galaxy S23 series. All the phones in the lineup and recommendation-worthy, offering a graceful design, incredible cameras, superb performance, and class-leading battery life. However, that doesn't mean Samsung has nothing to improve. And new rumors claim that Samsung will bring more RAM to the Galaxy S24 series to improve overall performance.

The South Korean firm could also double the storage on its non-Ultra Galaxy S24 models.

Galaxy S24 RAM and storage

According to tipster Tarun Vats (@tarunvats33), Samsung will equip the Galaxy S24 and the Galaxy S24+ with up to 12GB of RAM, while the Galaxy S24 could offer as much as 16GB RAM. The Galaxy S24 and the Galaxy S24+ could also have double their base storage at 256GB compared to 128GB in the Galaxy S23 series. The last time Samsung offered as much RAM in its non-Ultra Galaxy S series device was in 2019 with the Galaxy S10+, while the Galaxy S20 Ultra had 16GB of RAM in its 512GB version.

If this information is correct, the Galaxy S24 could offer some much-needed improvement in terms of multitasking performance and app/game loading times.

However, you should take this information with a pinch of salt, as the tipster doesn't have a lengthy track record to rely upon yet. We can expect the Galaxy S24 to launch in early 2024, featuring base, Plus, and Ultra models. All three phones are rumored to feature a custom version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and UFS 4.1 storage. They would most probably run Android 14-based One UI 6 software out of the box. The Galaxy S24 Ultra could continue using a 200MP camera sensor.

While Samsung has pretty much sorted everything out on its high-end phones, the company needs to do more with the charging speeds. Currently, its high-end phones take as long as an hour for a full charge through a 25W/45W charger, while rival firms are offering as much as 240W fast charging for a full charge within 20 minutes. Even if Samsung doesn't go that far, it should consider offering 65W fast charging for an 85% battery top-up in half an hour.
