Samsung believes its new smartphones, unveiled last week at Unpacked 2024, have kickstarted a new era defined by AI and Large Language Models. Whether the Galaxy S24 series will revolutionize the mobile world is to be determined, but one thing is clear: many others believe in it.

The Galaxy S24 series broke pre-booking records in India. More than 250,000 Indian customers have ordered a new Samsung flagship since pre-bookings opened on January 18. By this metric, the Galaxy S24 is the most successful Galaxy S series launched in India to date.

To put things in perspective, Samsung India recorded 250,000 pre-bookings for last year's Galaxy S23 models over a three-week period. Now, the Galaxy S24 series broke that record only three days after pre-bookings opened.

Raju Pullan, Senior VP at Samsung India MX Business, said, “The huge success of Galaxy S24 series demonstrates that Indian consumers are early adopters of new technology.”

People want Samsung's first AI phones

In India, Samsung's new Galaxy S24 series starts at INR 79,999 ($962). The Plus variant, which now comes with 12GB of RAM as standard, starts at INR 99,999 ($1,203). And the Galaxy S24 Ultra with an S Pen starts at INR 129,999 ($1,563). Pre-booking offers include free memory upgrades and other bonuses.

Samsung hasn't revealed which Galaxy S24 variant pulled the most pre-bookings in these first three days of availability, but either way, customers in India seem eager to try out all the new features.

The Galaxy S24 series brings AI tools such as Live Translate, Interpreter, Chat Assist, Note Assist, AI-powered Transcript and Summarize tools, improved Android Auto, Generative Edit in Gallery, and more.

Even if you're not fully on-board with these AI tools and One UI 6.1 improvements, the Galaxy S24 series brings a handful of sought-after hardware upgrades, ranging from much brighter and better displays to larger vapor chambers that promise improved sustained performance in mobile games.
