Galaxy S24 is still being tested in disguise despite all the leaks

We all know Samsung doesn't have what it takes when it comes to making sure information about its upcoming flagships doesn't leak online months before those flagships are unveiled. Well, the company can do a fantastic job when it really wants to, which is how Samsung's first foldable phone was a complete mystery until it decided to give us a glimpse, but that was a rare exception.

There is, however, one way Samsung has been disguising its upcoming flagships since, like, forever. The company essentially uses a fake model number when testing devices through benchmarks or when it applies for various certifications. So it doesn't come as a surprise that Samsung is doing the same thing with the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra.

A Samsung SM-K756B has been spotted in a browser benchmark on the HTML5test website, and this isn't a new series of phones or a return of the Galaxy K Zoom smartphone Samsung launched a few years ago with a massive 20.7MP 10x optical zoom camera at the back. It's simply the Galaxy S24+, the actual model number for which is SM-S926 (with a letter like B or U depending on the market).

Samsung hasn't always used the letter K to throw peope off the scent. For a long time, the company would use the letter A, which would often lead to people thinking a new Galaxy A smartphone was on the way. Right now, it's the letter K, which was also used for the Galaxy S23 series last year, and in a few years Samsung will probably switch it up again.

Of course, as far as the Galaxy S24 is concerned, at this point in time the disguises don't matter. We have already seen all three Galaxy S24 smartphones with their real model numbers on performance benchmarks, and there have also been plenty of leaks and rumors, including high-resolution renders showing off some of the design changes Samsung is making, at least for the base and Plus models.

The Galaxy S24 series is also expected to launch earlier than the Galaxy S23 did, with our sources telling us that Samsung's next Unpacked event will take place in January. The exact date is a mystery for now, but that's probably because Samsung hasn't settled on a date yet, not because it's trying its best to guard the secret.
