Samsung has officially confirmed that it's going to unveil the Galaxy S24 series on January 17 in San Jose, California. This means that the company can now get down to the business of hyping up its latest flagship series.
It's doing just that. Samsung has released a new Galaxy S24 teaser, likely running as TV ads in the US, whereby it recalls some of the past groundbreaking innovations introduced with Samsung phones and challenges you to rethink what a smartphone of the future can be.
Time to get excited for the Galaxy S24
The Galaxy S24 teaser does a serious throwback to 1988 when Samsung launched its first mobile phone, a chunky brick with an antenna, but that's what phones looked like back in the day. Samsung later followed it up with a TV phone in 1999, which had the capability to let you watch live TV in an era where internet TV streaming didn't exist.
From the introduction of the Galaxy Note series that brought larger and more immersive displays to the 2014 introduction of water resistant devices, Samsung has continued to make major changes that have defined smartphones of the era. It introduced Samsung Pay in 2015, quickly establishing it as the preferred mobile payment solution for Galaxy device owners.
Perhaps the biggest change came in 2020 when Samsung resurrected the old flip phone form factor with the original Galaxy Z Flip. Four years on, this has become one of Samsung's most popular smartphone lineups, and its popularity is only set to grow.
This Galaxy S24 teaser sets the stage for what's to come on January 17: Galaxy AI. This is what Samsung is calling the AI features it'll introduce with the Galaxy S24 series. We'll undoubtedly see these features trickle down to other phones later this year, but the Galaxy S24 will forever be remembered as the series that started it all. Excited? Go ahead and pre-reserve your Galaxy S24 and get $50 off!
