Samsung has announced that it will stream the first-of-its-kind Olympics opening ceremony at the 2024 Summer Olympics using hundreds of Galaxy S24 Ultras.
For the first time ever, the International Olympic Committee will host the opening ceremony for the Games outside a stadium. All athletes will float down the Seine River in boats designated for each participating nation, and Samsung will install more than 200 Galaxy S24 Ultras on these boats to capture high-quality HDR footage of the parade and stream it to fans worldwide.

The stream will take advantage of France's “first standalone 5G network.” Orange, the official network provider of the Games, will set up 12 5G base stations along the river to create this network.
Samsung says it will also stream the sailing competitions in Marseille using the same 5G network and the Galaxy S24 Ultra, with the phone installed on each competing boat.
It's interesting to note that Samsung will not be deploying the Galaxy Z Fold 6 for this special occasion. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 will go official on July 10, 16 days before the opening ceremony.
It's not surprising, however, as foldables aren't as rugged as regular phones. Furthermore, this year's Galaxy Z Fold will not bring any camera upgrades. The Galaxy S24 Ultra will keep the crown of being the best Samsung smartphone for capturing photos and videos until at least next year.
2024 Olympics host city also the venue for Samsung's Unpacked event
The Unpacked event, where Samsung will launch the Galaxy Z Fold 6, the Galaxy Z Flip 6, the Galaxy Watch 7, the new Galaxy Buds, and its first-gen smart ring, will take place in Paris. Paris is the main host city for this year's Olympics.
The Galaxy Ring is expected to steal most of the limelight at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked. Samsung will likely advertise it heavily along with the other products all over France once the Games begin.
