Recent rumors paint a relatively clear picture of the upcoming Galaxy S25 Ultra. As you probably heard, the phone may go through a redesign and adopt a uniform frame with rounder corners. But what about the base Galaxy S25 and the Galaxy S25+? What new design elements will they boast, if any?
If a new leak from Ice Universe (via Weibo) is anything to go by, the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ will introduce a new camera ring design that looks quite unusual. Here is a rendered representation of what that might look like. Join us below for more details.
The source calls this a “double-layer design.” We're guessing each camera ring is likely one piece shaped like this through machining. Either way, it almost looks like the camera rings haven't been pushed or screwed all the way in.
Galaxy S25 Ultra won't follow the same language
Samsung has never done anything like this before. It certainly looks distinctive, and it's interesting to see how Samsung may want to give its upcoming flagship phones a unique identity without overdoing the camera design.
In recent years, other OEMs have gone bigger and bolder, while Samsung's cameras have become more refined. This looks like Samsung's way of thinking outside the box without following in the footsteps of many of its rivals.
Supposedly, only the base and Plus Galaxy S25 models will use this unusual camera ring design. The Galaxy S25 Ultra camera rings won't look like this.
One thing to consider is practicality, and we'll have to wait and see how practical (or impractical) this dual-layer camera ring design might be or if it will work against the Galaxy S25 and S25+.
At a glance, based on the render above, these camera rings could attract dirt and may not be very easy to keep clean. They may also pose a higher risk of getting caught in fabric. But then again, none of this might matter for protective case users.
Samsung may unveil the Galaxy S25 series early next year. As usual, the company will introduce new hardware upgrades and improved software. We also expect Samsung to cook up more Galaxy AI tools and upgrades.
