All three devices in Samsung’s latest lineup of non-foldable flagship smartphones — Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra — feature the same charging speed as their predecessors. That is, the first two models have 45W charging and the smallest of the lot gets 25W charging, which is slower than most of their rivals.
If that wasn’t disappointing enough, buyers of these phones are now reporting that the devices are not getting charged even at the advertised rates, and some are also facing connection issues. The good news is that Samsung has acknowledged the problem and the company says that they will soon fix it with a software update.
Galaxy S25+ isn’t charging above 15W
On Reddit, a user reports that when they charge their Galaxy S25+ using one of Anker’s 47W chargers and cables “which have been verified plenty fast enough to charge other devices well over 15W”, their Samsung phone isn’t charging at above 15W.
They also tried an Anker 20W charger but it didn’t help either. Even when the phone charges at 15W, it stays at that speed for very brief periods. Usually, the charging speed hovers between 5W and 10W. They have used multiple applications that show charging wattage as well as cables that display charging wattage to check the charging speed.
According to them, the issue is happening across a wide range of battery percentages. Between 5% and 70% to be more specific. In other words, the Galaxy S25+ is charging at slow speeds when the battery is at 5% and even when it is at 60% – 70%.
Galaxy S25 Ultra connection issues with Samsung’s 45W charger
On Samsung’s Community forum for Europe, a user says that when they connect their Galaxy S25+ to Samsung’s 45W charger using the 5A cable that comes with the charger, it jumps between showing Super Fast Charging 2.0 and not charging at all.
However, when they turn off the Fast Charging option from Settings, the phone charges without any issues but at slower speeds. The user notes that their S23 charges properly with the same 45W charger, which suggests that the problem isn’t with the charger.
On X, a user from Italy also reported the same issue but with the Galaxy S25 Ultra. According to them, when they charge their phone with Samsung’s 45W charger and the 5A cable that comes with it, the device intermittently connects and disconnects.
Samsung has acknowledged the issue
Samsung Italia has acknowledged the issue. According to it, there is indeed an issue when using the 5A cable, and the company will soon fix it with a software update.
