One of the unique things about the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition (in China) that no other Samsung phone has is a cleverer Bixby assistant. Not for long. Reports say that the next-generation Bixby assistant will reach the rest of the world with the launch of the Galaxy S25 lineup early next year.
Bixby is in the best state it's ever been. Currently, the assistant is clever enough to understand natural language processing (NLP), pull data from apps like the Calendar, and even translate Samsung Internet pages on the fly.
However, the next-gen Bixby update, available exclusively for the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition (W25) and W25 Flip in China, has a bit more muscle. For one, it can extract additional information from apps and offers an improved interactive user guide. See the screenshots below.
Industry watchers now say the Fold SE W25-exclusive Bixby assistant won't be exclusive for much longer. A recent Korean Media report says the Galaxy S25 series will be the first to introduce the upgrade worldwide.
Leaker @Universe Ice called the new Bixby “The biggest selling point of [the] Galaxy S25 series.”
Samsung's next-gen Bixby for the Galaxy S25 series will reportedly use a combination of AI engines, including ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and Samsung's own Gauss system. The Korean tech giant unveiled Gauss 2, featuring multimodal capabilities, last month.
The Galaxy S25 series, consisting of the base, Plus, and Ultra models, should go live early next year at the big Galaxy Unpacked launch event. The latter is reportedly scheduled for January 22.
