We are a few months away from the announcement of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Samsung's next flagship smartphone is expected to bring huge improvements to design, performance, and cameras. However, if you were expecting battery capacity and charging speed improvements, you will be disappointed.

Galaxy S25 Ultra battery capacity and charging speed remain the same

According to reliable tipster Ice Universe, the Galaxy S25 Ultra will be powered by a 5,000mAh battery with up to 45W fast charging. If this information is correct (which it likely is), it would be Samsung's fifth year of no battery and charging upgrades. The Galaxy S20 Ultra was Samsung's first phone with a 5,000mAh battery and 45W fast charging.

Its Chinese rivals have started equipping their flagship phones with 5,200mAh or 5,500mAh batteries. Next year, those companies will reportedly begin to use 6,000mAh batteries in their high-end phones. For example, the OPPO Find X7 Ultra reportedly has a 6,000mAh battery and will be launched next year.

The story continues after our video below.

What else to expect from Galaxy S25 Ultra specifications?

While there won't be battery upgrades, you can still expect the Galaxy S25 Ultra to last a little longer than the Galaxy S24 Ultra due to its more power-efficient processor. The phone will reportedly use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, which is fabricated on TSMC's 3nm process node. Due to a more power-efficient process, the phone will likely have a higher power efficiency.

The upcoming flagship phone is expected to go official early next year. According to reports, it will have a new curved back design, a 200MP primary rear camera, three 50MP auxiliary rear cameras (ultrawide, telephoto, and super telephoto), and Android 15-based One UI 7.1 software. It will likely get seven years of Android OS and security updates.
