While the Galaxy S24 Ultra reigns supreme, Samsung will inevitably release a sequel in early 2025. Although many things can happen from now until then, some of the Galaxy S25 Ultra's characteristics are easier to guess than others. For example, the phone will likely boast a new Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC, but whether the device will feature an upgraded camera setup is unclear.

More tidbits of information about the Galaxy S25 Ultra's hardware and design are starting to emerge. One recent rumor claimed that the Galaxy S25 Ultra could abandon one of its cameras and sport three rear-facing sensors instead. However, that won't be the case, according to X (formerly Twitter) tipster @UniverseIce.

The tipster is “certain” the Galaxy S25 Ultra will have four cameras but is unsure whether the setup will boast significant upgrades. Samsung's 2025 flagship phone could reuse the Galaxy S24 Ultra's quad-camera configuration.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra's camera setup consists of an impressive 200MP primary unit with OIS and multi-directional PDAF, a 12MP ultra-wide camera with dual pixel PDAF, a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and a second telephoto sensor with a 50MP resolution and 5x optical zoom. Both telephoto shooters have PDAF and OIS.

Galaxy S25 Ultra to have roughly the same size

Another tidbit of information shared by the X tipster is that the Galaxy S25 Ultra's display will be the same size as the Galaxy S24 Ultra's, i.e., 6.8 inches.

This shouldn't surprise anyone, considering that Samsung's Ultra flagships have had 6.8-inch displays since the Galaxy S21 Ultra. However, while the size remained the same over the past couple of years, the display's shape changed, culminating in an almost flat panel for the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

The display technology improved with every generation, and the Galaxy S24 Ultra boasts a more resilient and anti-reflective Gorilla Armor display protector, an LTPO backplane, and 2600 nits of peak brightness.

Story continues after the video…

It's unknown how or if the Galaxy S25 Ultra's 6.8-inch display will differ in shape or specifications compared to the Galaxy S24 Ultra's. However, since the panel will supposedly be the same size, we can expect similar overall dimensions and proportions from the upcoming flagship model. The Galaxy S24 Ultra measures 162.3 x 79 x 8.6mm. The Galaxy S24 Ultra measures 162.3 x 79 x 8.6mm, and the sequel shouldn't be far off.
