Earlier today, it was revealed that Samsung will exclusively use the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip in all Galaxy S25 models. And Samsung could continue its Snapdragon exclusivity for another year, as the Galaxy S26 series will reportedly use Qualcomm's Snapdragon chips as well.

However, Exynos isn't dead in the water and will reportedly return.

Galaxy S26 could exclusively use Snapdragon chips

Tipster Ice Universe revealed on Weibo that Samsung is reportedly thinking of exclusively using Snapdragon chips for the Galaxy S26 series. That is great news for people who want Samsung phones to use Snapdragon chips, largely thanks to the good performance and power efficiency seen on most previous Snapdragon processors.

However, Samsung hasn't given up on its Exynos chips yet. According to Ice Universe, Samsung is developing its next-generation Exynos chip, codenamed ‘Ulysses.' This processor is reportedly planned for the Galaxy S27 lineup and will be launched in 2027. This chip will reportedly be fabricated on Samsung Foundry's second-generation 2nm process node (SF2P), which will be ready by the end of 2026.

The Galaxy S25 and the Galaxy S25+ were supposed to use the 3nm Exynos 2500 chipset made by Samsung Foundry. The company even named the Exynos 2500 during its earnings call. However, the company reportedly failed to get enough yield, and Samsung had to ditch the chip in favor of the Snapdragon 8 Elite for the entire Galaxy S25 series.

Watch the performance of the Exynos 2400e chip compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in our video below.

The South Korean firm reportedly wants to gain consumer confidence in the Exynos brand with Project Ulysses. Hopefully, the company won't face yield-related issues with its next Exynos chip.
