Galaxy S26 Ultra's Privacy Display options

Samsung introduced the groundbreaking Privacy Display feature on the Galaxy S26 Ultra this year, and it received praise from users. Now, the company is reportedly planning to expand the technology to more devices, including the Galaxy S27 Pro.

Privacy Display could be limited to Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra

The Galaxy S27 lineup will reportedly consist of five models: Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27+, Galaxy S27 Pro, Galaxy S27 Ultra, and Galaxy S27 FE. Four of these phones are expected to launch in early 2027, while the FE model will likely debut in mid-2027.

According to a new report from South Korean publication ETNews, the Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra will share several flagship-grade specifications. These include a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processor, a 200MP primary camera, a 16MP front-facing camera, and an OLED panel equipped with both Privacy Display and Color Filter-on-Encapsulation (COE) technology.

The Galaxy S27 and the Galaxy S27+ will reportedly not have Privacy Display, which contradicts an earlier report.

The Privacy Display relies on Samsung Display's Flex Magic Pixel (FMP) OLED panels, which incorporate a tall black matrix over half of the pixels. This matrix acts as a barrier wall that prevents light emitted by the pixels from traveling sideways, effectively restricting viewing angles.

Users can toggle the feature on or off across the entire screen or apply it selectively to specific apps and notifications.

COE eliminates the traditional polarizer layer by integrating polarization directly into the thin-film encapsulation. Removing the polarizer frees up vertical space, allowing Samsung Display to stack the taller black matrix required for FMP technology.
