Keeping in line with its mantra of “reimagining the phone,” Samsung today revealed during its Galaxy S9 launch event that the new handset's home screen supports landscape orientation natively. This will enable users to multi-task on the handset easily without having to manually change the handset's orientation every single time.

Galaxy S9 home screen tweaked

Samsung has tweaked the user interface on the Galaxy S9 to make it easier for users to do more without having to interrupt what they're doing. The notifications UI has been tweaked so that users can respond to a message without having to interrupt the video that they're watching.

With the screen real estate that it offers, it's a shame that this feature wasn't offered before, but Samsung is making amends with the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+.

The new flagship's home screen supports horizontal orientation natively so users won't have to keep flipping their phone around when switching between apps that use the two different modes. This is going to be particularly useful for power users who tend to have multiple apps running simultaneously.
