Six months ago, Samsung launched the Galaxy Tab A9 and the Galaxy Tab A9+ with Android 13-based One UI 5.1.1 onboard. The company has now released the Android 14 update to the Galaxy Tab A9+ in some countries.
Galaxy Tab A9+ gets Android 14 update in Asia and Europe
The Android 14-based One UI 6.0 update is now available for the Galaxy Tab A9+. The update bears firmware version X216BXXU1BXA7 and is now available in the Caucasus countries, Indonesia, and the Philippines. In India, the same update is available with firmware version X216BXXU1BXA9.
The update also brings the December 2023 security patch that fixes dozens of security vulnerabilities. It is a big update, so you should prefer downloading it via a Wi-Fi network. The tablet may get two more Android OS updates in the future.
Galaxy Tab A9+ One UI 6.0 features
The Android 14-based One UI 6.0 update brings a new Quick Panel layout, a new design language for emojis, a new lock screen clock widget font options, and two new widgets (Custom Camera and Weather Insight). The lock screen clock widget's placement can also be changed.
There is a new two-hand gesture to move files/items from one place to another. This gesture works in Calendar, Gallery, My Files, and the home screen and the app drawer. The Gallery app has a new look for Stories. The built-in Photo Editor has more accessible dials for editing controls. The built-in Video Editor is now named Samsung Studio, and it supports drafts and timelines.
Samsung has removed the term Galaxy and Samsung from the names of Samsung's stock apps. There is a new media player widget that's visible on the lock screen and the notifications area. There is a slightly refreshed look for notifications and the notification icons look more vivid. You can sort notifications by time.
Pop-up windows now stay open when you open the multitasking screen and go back to the normal screen. The Galaxy Tab A9+ now works with the Windows Phone Link app on computers running Windows OS. You can see notifications, use apps, and transfer files with a PC using that feature.
The Camera app now has a simpler UI and the document scanning is easier. You can clip objects/subjects from images and save them as stickers. The built-in video player has enhanced UI and more playback speed controls. The Weather app now has more information and improved illustrations.
Samsung Health has improved its home screen and custom cup size options. The Reminder app also has an improved home screen, and reminders are now visible in the Calendar app. Samsung Internet can now play videos in the background and tab view is better. The Modes And Routines app has more options and conditions. Samsung Pass now supports passkeys.
The Airplane Mode is now smarter and remembers whether you want Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to be turned on or off when you activate Airplane Mode. The Battery section now has a direct entry from the Settings app's home screen. More accessibility features have been added as well.
