Can you dunk the new Galaxy Tab S10 tablets in water?

Samsung announced its latest Galaxy Tab S10 series today. As you may have heard, these new flagship tablets have changed the game. There are only two models instead of the usual three, and they use a MediaTek chip instead of an Exynos or Snapdragon solution.

You might wonder what other changes Samsung may have made to the Galaxy Tab S flagship series with the release of the Tab S10s. And, well, many other small things have been changed or upgraded, even though the tablets look more or less the same as their predecessor. But thankfully, dust and water resistance are here to stay.

Galaxy Tab S10+ and Tab S10 Ultra should be as durable as ever

Samsung says its new Galaxy Tab S10 flagship tablet series offers durability without compromises. They were “built to use anytime, anywhere.”

In more practical terms, Samsung says the new tablets are manufactured from enhanced Armor Aluminum. They're tough and won't bend easily.

Furthermore, thanks to their IP68 rating, you can take the Galaxy Tab S10+ or Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra at the beach or the poolside without worrying about dust and water ingress. And the tablets won't have any issues if you spill a glass of water on them. They should survive even if you leave them in up to 1.5 meters of water for up to 30 minutes.

Better yet, the accompanying S Pens boast the same IP68 rating as the tablets, so you won't have to worry about dust or getting them wet accidentally.

The story continues after the video

As a friendly reminder, you should keep in mind that as durable as the Galaxy Tab S10+ and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra tablets are, Samsung doesn't usually advise using its IP-rated devices in salt water, hot water, soapy water, or water bodies with high amounts of chlorine.

Water resistance isn't permanent but deteriorates over time, and those environments can accelerate the process. For example, very hot water could soften the adhesives that hold the screen in place. Just to be on the safe side, you shouldn't take the tablet with you in the shower, or inside the pool if the water has chlorine. Soap and chlorine could deteriorate the tablet's water-tight seals.

But if you happen to expose your IP68-rated Galaxy Tab S10+ or Tab S10 Ultra tablets to anything but fresh water, you should rinse them with fresh water and dry them with a clean cloth.
