Samsung has finally launched the Galaxy Tab S5e in South Africa. It is an affordable midrange tablet with an AMOLED display and an ultra-slim profile. It has a thickness of just 5.5 mm, making it the thinnest and lightest Samsung tablet yet. As the company puts it, the Galaxy Tab S5e is “lighter than a cup of coffee and equally refreshing.”
Galaxy Tab S6 coming soon
Samsung launched the Galaxy Tab S5e earlier this year and is now jumping straight to the Galaxy Tab S6. The latter is expected to launch alongside the Galaxy Note 10 on August 7 featuring significantly better specs. The Galaxy Tab S5e isn't any bad either. It features a 10.5-inch Super AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 670 octa-core CPU, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, and a 7,040mAh battery with support for fast charging. Other features include a fingerprint sensor and four AKG-tuned Dolby Atmos speakers.
The Tab S6, meanwhile, will feature a more powerful Snapdragon 855 SoC with 6GB RAM and at least 128GB of onboard storage. It will also feature an S Pen, which attaches magnetically at the back of the tablet. There's also a dual camera system at the back. Naturally, the Tab S6 will cost much more than the Tab S5e.
Nonetheless, the Galaxy Tab S5e is still an unbeatable value proposition at its price. The tablet is available nationwide through both offline and online channels and costs R9,499 (~$682). You can check out our review to see if it suits your needs.
