The 2022 edition of the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite received the Android 14-based One UI 6 update in some markets last week, and the update has now made its way to India. The original Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is not eligible for Android 14, but it's good to see that Samsung is working to release the latest OS upgrade for the 2022 model in as many countries as quickly as possible.
Indian Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2022) owners can identify the One UI 6 update by the firmware version P613XXU4CWL1 for the Wi-Fi variant. The 4G variant should receive the update shortly, though there's no way to know how that will take.
The update is a 1.8GB download over the air and you can get it on your Tab S6 Lite (2022) by opening the tablet's Settings app, selecting Software update, and tapping Download and install.
Android 14 and One UI 6 bring several new features and improvements to the user experience, like a redesigned Quick Panel, a new font, a new media player notification widget that displays album art and a waveform animation, enhanced layout and sorting of notifications, and new weather and camera widgets.
The update also adds two-handed drag and drop for apps and widgets on the home screen, more powerful photo and video editing tools, a smarter airplane mode, and Auto Blocker for enhanced security against unknown apps. Samsung's stock apps, such as Reminder and Calendar, have been improved as well.
For the Tab S6 Lite, the update includes the November 2023 security patch. That patch is two months old, but this is par for the course for Samsung's Android tablets, which don't get security updates as regularly as its smartphones.
