As we approach the end of this month, more Samsung devices are getting updated with the latest security patch. The Galaxy Tab S8 family has now started getting the October 2024 security update in several countries and regions around the world.
Galaxy Tab S8 gets more secure with October 2024 security patch
A new software update has been released to the Galaxy Tab S8, Galaxy Tab S8+, and Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. It comes with firmware version Xx00XXS8CXJ7 (x can 7, 8, or 9, depending on the model) and brings the October 2024 security patch. This new patch fixes over 40 security shortcomings discovered in the previous software.
The update is rolling out in Canada, China, Europe, Hong Kong, India, South Korea, Taiwan, the UAE, the USA, and Turkey. The exact firmware versions for each Galaxy Tab S8 model are listed below.
- Tab S8: X700XXS8CXJ7
- Tab S8+: X800XXS8CXJ7
- Tab S8 Ultra: X900XXS8CXJ7
If you have a Galaxy Tab S8 series tablet and live in any of the countries or regions mentioned above, you can check for the new update on your device. To do that, navigate to Settings » Software update » Download and install. Alternatively, you can download the appropriate firmware file from our database and flash it manually.

Galaxy Tab S8's software update history
The Galaxy Tab S8 series was launched in early 2022 with Android 12 (One UI 4.1) onboard. The tablets in the lineup received the Android 13 (One UI 5.0) update in late 2022 and the Android 14 (One UI 6.0) update in late 2023. Earlier this year, the tablets received the One UI 6.1 update, and a couple of months ago, they received the One UI 6.1.1 update.
All the tablets in the Galaxy Tab S8 series will get the Android 15 (One UI 7.0) update early next year. Android 16 (likely One UI 8.0) will be their last major Android OS update.
