Galaxy Tab S8 users can now finally look forward to the next big One UI update. As you may have heard, a One UI 5.1.1 beta program just went live for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 in South Korea, but the foldable device is not alone. Samsung's Galaxy Tab S8 series is also joining a similar One UI 5.1.1 beta testing program as we speak.
Samsung fans in South Korea can apply to participate in the beta program through the Members app on their Galaxy Tab S8 tablets. There's no telling how the One UI 5.1.1 beta update will affect the development of One UI 6.0 for the Tab S8 series, but at least the One UI 5.1.1 beta appears to be chock-full of features and improvements.
One UI 5.1.1 improves multitasking, S Pen, Quick Share
Some of the One UI 5.1.1 upgrades mentioned in the Galaxy Z Fold 4 update story don't apply to the tablet series. A few mentions are the Flex Mode additions and Samsung Health changes, given that Samsung tablets don't officially have compatibility with the Health app. The Wireless Power Share upgrades also pertain specifically to the Galaxy Z Fold 4.
Nevertheless, One UI 5.1.1 for the Galaxy Tab S8 series should improve multitasking through intuitive pop-up view and split screen commands. S Pen users can also preview apps by hovering the input device on top of apps when they're minimized to the taskbar.
Apps like My Files get better drag-and-drop functionalities and more detailed storage information, and the Gallery app offers slight improvements to the watermark feature. Furthermore, One UI 5.1.1 users can share files via Quick Share with contacts, even if they're not nearby.
For now, Samsung made the One UI 5.1.1 beta update available for the Galaxy Tab S8 series in South Korea, but it is unclear if the beta program will open for other users in additional markets. We'll let you know once we find out more.
