Samsung appears to have pulled the plug on the Galaxy Tab S8 series in the USA – not so much regarding firmware support but rather concerning availability in the Samsung e-shop. After an unbeatable deal at the end of May, the Galaxy Tab S8 series has been retired from online store shelves.
As some might recall, Samsung launched an unbeatable deal for the Galaxy Tab S8 trio a couple of weeks ago, dropping prices by a few hundred dollars. The Tab S8 Ultra, for example, was available for only $650 after a $450 price cut without a trade-in.
These sorts of deals are infrequent, and it looked like Samsung was trying to clear out the Tab S8 series stock. It seemingly succeeded, as now, two weeks later, the Tab S8 is no more.
Making room for a new generation of tablets
Even though Samsung hasn't erased every trace of the Galaxy Tab S8 series from its online store, accessing the landing “Buy” page for either one of the three Tab S8 models leads to a page that states: “The device is no longer available for purchase on Samsung.com, however please take a look at additional options in the Galaxy family.”
This looks like the final retirement message from the Galaxy Tab S8 series quietly retiring from Samsung's online shop in the USA. Elsewhere, including in the Netherlands and Germany, the 2022 tablet is likewise missing in action. However, it remains available for purchase in markets like the UK and India — possibly others.
Prospective buyers in the USA might be able to find the Tab S8 through third-party retailers, but as of this writing, it doesn't look like Samsung intends to bring it back in stock. We'll keep you posted if the situation changes.
As for other options, the Galaxy Tab S9 lineup is the latest model and still available, albeit at considerably higher prices than the Tab S8 series was a few weeks ago. Samsung is also preparing to release a new Tab S10 series, possibly by the end of the year or early next year.
We're expecting Samsung to drop the Galaxy Tab S8 from its e-shops in other markets sooner than later, so if you find one at your local e-shop for a stellar price, you might want to consider buying it before you lose the chance. As far as firmware support is concerned, the Galaxy Tab S8 series should receive two more major updates after One UI 6.1.
