Samsung has finally started rolling out the One UI 6.1.1 update to the Galaxy Tab S9 FE series. The update is currently available in South Korea, and it could be released in other countries starting next week. The update brings several One UI enhancements but no new Galaxy AI features to the Fan Edition tablets.

The One UI 6.1.1 update is now available for the Galaxy Tab S9 FE and the Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ in South Korea. The update comes with firmware versions that are listed below.

  • Galaxy Tab S9 FE (Wi-Fi): X510XXU5BXHB
  • Galaxy Tab S9 FE (Wi-Fi + 5G): X516NKOU5BXHB
  • Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ (Wi-Fi): X610XXU5BXHB
  • Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ (Wi-Fi + 5G): X616NKOU5BXHB

If you have a Galaxy Tab S9 FE or Tab S9 FE+ and live in South Korea, you can check for the new update by opening the Settings app on your device and navigating to Software update » Download and install.

The update introduces improved Smart Select, which now contextually offers suggested actions based on the content you have selected on the screen. For example, if you select a phone number, One UI will offer a button to call that number and if you have selected an address, it will show you a button to start GPS navigation to that location. Smart Select can be easily accessed through the Edge Panel.

You can switch between picture-in-picture and split-screen modes quickly by pressing and holding a video and dragging it to a desired part of the screen. In My Files, a UI enhancement has been introduced to improve file copying and moving operations. You can also place shortcuts to files on the home screen by dragging a file from the My Files app and dropping it on the home screen. My Files also shows image thumbnails in correct aspect ratio.

Using the S Pen and the straight highlighter tool in the month view, you can highlight important dates in the Samsung Calendar app. You can also erase those highlighted parts without disturbing other markings. You can also set up repeating events (such as birthdays) based on the lunar date without switching to the lunar calendar mode.

In Routines, you can use more detailed keyword filters using multiple keywords in a message that can trigger a routine. You can set the routine to trigger if any one or all the keywords are in the message.

In the Gallery app, you can clip multiple subjects at once by simply tapping and holding those objects. Then, those clipped parts can be pasted into other apps and converted to stickers. You can create your own contact card with a custom name, photo, and more, which you can share with your friends and family members using a Samsung phone and vice versa.

You can quickly browse through videos in the built-in video player by tapping on the left or right side of the screen twice to rewind or forward by five seconds.

With One UI 6.1.1, you can answer calls by tapping the answer button rather than swiping it. The stock weather app updates more frequently (every hour) if you want up-to-date weather information.

Auto Blocker offers more stringent security by disabling automatic downloads of attachments and hyperlinks, deleting location information from images, and disabling shared albums in the Gallery app.

You can quickly turn on and off some features in the quick settings window using single taps. With One UI 6.1.1, complex actions such as pressing and holding the side button twice or pressing and holding can now be done with a single tap.
