The May 2023 security patch is no longer exclusive to Galaxy phones and has now reached its first tablet. This month's update is now available for the Galaxy Tab S8 in Europe.
The update should be available for all three Tab S8 models: base, Plus, and Ultra. But for now, we can confirm it is rolling out for the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra (SM-X906B). The update carries firmware version Xx06BXXU4BWD8.
Judging by the firmware version, this release should contain more than just the May 2023 security patch. It's also pretty huge, weighing 1.6GB. But the official changelog doesn't mention much aside from the usual generic stability and performance improvements.
The May 2023 security patch fixes flaws in Exynos modems, the bootloader, and more, totaling 72 security fixes, six of which are labeled “critical.”
Galaxy Tab S8 users in Europe and possibly other markets should get an update notification at any moment, tap it, and start the updating process. Or they can open the Settings app on the tablet, access “Software update,” and tap “Download and install.” Users who prefer manual updates over a PC should be able to download the official firmware files from our website once they are available.
Thanks for the tip, Tim!
