Samsung has confirmed that the One UI Watch 5 beta program for the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 smartwatches has been delayed. Samsung officially announced One UI Watch 5, based on Wear OS 4, in early May and had said at the time that it would start beta testing later in the month, but that's not going to happen.
We already had an inkling that a delay could happen, and now it has been confirmed by Samsung's beta operations manager on the Samsung Community forums in Korea. And unfortunately, no new time frame has been provided so there's no telling how long Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 owners will need to wait before they can take One UI Watch 5 and Wear OS 4 for a spin.
No new time frame has been provided for One UI Watch 5 beta
However, it's likely that the One UI Watch 5 beta will start before the Galaxy Watch 6 series is unveiled. The Galaxy Watch 6 will be unveiled on July 26 along with Samsung's new foldables and will run Wear OS 4 and One UI Watch 5 out of the box. The Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 5 might get the final stable version of One UI Watch 5 before the Galaxy Watch 6 goes on sale, though we can't be sure about that at this time.
