The stable One UI 6 Watch update (based on Wear OS 5) for the Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic comes with firmware version R8x0XXU1IXK1. The update is currently available in India and the African region. Samsung has now released the One UI 6 Watch update to all older Galaxy Watches that run Wear OS.
The new software update, which has a download size of around 1.8GB, brings the October 2024 security patch to the smartwatches.
If you have a Galaxy Watch 4, you can check for the update by opening the Galaxy Wearable app on your phone and navigating to Watch settings » Watch software update » Download and install.
What's new with One UI 6 Watch update?
The One UI 6 Watch update brings three new watch faces to the Galaxy Watch 4: Simple Digital, Spatial Number, and Ultra Info Board. It also brings improved visual elements, such as buttons and toggles, that match One UI on Galaxy phones and tablets. It also has a new font.
The update also improves the look and feel of Tiles, as they now have sharper graphics and a more consistent feel.
Samsung has also introduced a new feature called Energy Score. It considers several points of your health and wellness data, including sleep duration, sleep quality, and the previous day's activity, to offer you an Energy Score that denotes how much exercise you can do on a given day.
Samsung Health also offers Galaxy AI-powered personalized health tips to improve overall health. With One UI 6 Watch, Galaxy Watches get more accurate and detailed sleep tracking and analysis.
You can create your own workout routines. You can add multiple workouts in a single routine, and when you start the routine, the Galaxy Watch automatically starts tracking the next workout in the routine when one workout ends.
One UI 6 Watch also makes the Galaxy Watch 4 more usable with one hand. You can use the new Double Pinch gesture for important actions, like picking up a call, turning off alarms, controlling music, taking a picture, or browsing through notifications. It has other universal gestures to navigate back and forth in the UI.
Scrolling across Tiles and notifications is now faster and smoother. You can view all the ongoing activities (call, exercise, and music playback) at once, and that screen has improved graphics. You can control which apps can show you notifications directly from the Galaxy Watch 4.
With the help of AI, Samsung is offering smart reply suggestions based on messages and notifications you get. That makes it easier to reply to notifications from your wrist. However, it requires a phone that is running One UI 6.1.1. You can also set your favorite emojis to use them quickly.
One UI 6 Watch's new Weather Tile can be edited to show you the most relevant weather information. The Galaxy Watch 4 can also show two world clocks simultaneously. You can manage calendar events directly from your Galaxy Watch 4.
With updated Modes & Routines, you can use more conditions to automate your life. These new conditions include Always On Display, Raise Wrist To Wake, Touch Screen To Wake, Touch Bezel To Wake, Sound Mode, and Disconnection Alerts.
To make the battery last longer, you can limit health tracking features in power saving mode. When your Galaxy Watch 4 turns off due to charging depletion, the device turns on automatically when you put it back on charge.
The Galaxy Watch 4 now automatically connects to a paired Bluetooth speaker or earbuds when you play music on it. If the music playing app supports loudspeaker, the music can be played through the smartwatch's loudspeaker.
