After releasing the One UI 6 Watch update to the Galaxy Watch 5 series, Samsung started rolling out the update to the Galaxy Watch FE as well. The company's first FE series Galaxy Watch is now getting its first major software update since its launch.

Galaxy Watch FE gets Wear OS 5-based One UI 6 Watch update with new features

The Wear OS 5-based One UI 6 Watch update is now available for the Galaxy Watch FE in almost all regions worldwide, including Asia and Europe. The update comes with firmware version R861XXU1BXI4 and has a download size of around 1,759MB. It also brings the September 2024 security patch.

Some users reported that after installing the One UI 6 Watch update, they received another 345MB update.

If you own a Galaxy Watch FE, you can now check for the One UI 6 Watch update by opening the Wearable app on your smartphone and navigating to Watch settings » Watch software update » Download and install.

What's new with One UI 6 Watch update?

The One UI 6 Watch update is based on Wear OS 5. It brings several new and improved health features, including improved sleep tracking and analysis, Galaxy AI-powered personalized health recommendations, Energy Score, and custom workout routines.

It also brings UI design and usability improvements, including a stylish new font, Double Pinch gesture, faster horizontal scrolling, a new UI for ongoing activities, wrist gestures for going back and forth, and universal gestures.

Modes and Routines app now supports more conditions and features, including Always On Display, Disconnection Alerts, Do Not Disturb, Raise To Wake, Sound Mode, Touch Bezel To Wake, and Touch Screen To Wake.

One UI 6 Watch makes it easier to access your favorite emojis. You can also save images received via messages on the Galaxy Watch FE's internal storage and open them using the Gallery app.

To improve battery life, you can limit health tracking features when the Power Saving mode is turned on. If you play music and if your music app supports it, music will start playing back on the Galaxy Watch FE's onboard loudspeaker. Else, it will automatically connect to paired earphones or wireless speaker.
