Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 users are getting a new Google Maps update. Or to be precise, the Google Maps app for Wear OS is now up to version 11.85.0502.W, and since the latest Samsung smartwatches run Wear OS, they, too, can get this new update.
What you get with this new version of Google Maps for your Galaxy Watch are bug fixes and improvements that “help you discover new places and navigate to them.” The changelog is generic, but the experience should be improved.
To check if you can update Google Maps on your Galaxy Watch, open the Play Store on the smartwatch, scroll all the way down, tap “Manage apps,” and then tap “Update all,” or look for the Google Maps update and select it.
The Maps update is available for the Galaxy Watch 4, Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, Galaxy Watch 5, and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro.
A more significant update came to the Google Maps app for Wear OS earlier this year when the app gained the ability to function without requiring the smartwatch to be connected to a phone.
Wear OS and its apps keeps improving, and later this year, Samsung smartwatches will receive new Wear OS and One UI Watch versions that will elevate sleep and fitness tracking.
